Ultra Pure Water
Ultra Pure Water

Ultra-pure water (UPW) is a highly purified form of water that is free from contaminants such as dissolved minerals, organic and inorganic particles, and bacteria. UPW is commonly used in a variety of industrial and laboratory applications that require the highest levels of water purity.

Ultra-pure water is typically produced using a combination of different purification techniques, including:

  1. Distillation: Distillation involves heating water to create steam and then cooling the steam to collect the purified water. This process removes most impurities, including minerals, bacteria, and organic compounds.

  2. Deionization: Deionization removes ions and charged particles from the water by passing it through an ion exchange resin. This process removes minerals and salts that were not removed by distillation.

  3. Reverse Osmosis: Reverse osmosis uses a semi-permeable membrane to filter out impurities. This process is particularly effective at removing dissolved solids and other contaminants that are not removed by other purification methods.

  4. Ultrafiltration: Ultrafiltration is a filtration process that removes particles and molecules that are larger than a certain size. It is particularly effective at removing bacteria and other microorganisms.

  5. UV/Ozone Treatment: Ultraviolet (UV) and ozone treatments are often used as final purification steps to remove any remaining contaminants, including microorganisms and organic compounds.

UPW can be used in a variety of sectors and areas and with the use of highly integrated equipment can be tailored to all your needs. Some of the sectors that use UPW are:

  1. Electronics manufacturing: UPW is used in the manufacturing of microelectronics, semiconductors, and computer chips as a cleaning agent and as a component in chemical mixtures.

  2. Pharmaceutical manufacturing: UPW is used in the production of pharmaceuticals and medical devices as a solvent and for cleaning equipment and containers.

  3. Laboratory research: UPW is used in scientific research as a solvent and for preparing buffers and reagents.

  4. Food and beverage production: UPW is used in the production of certain types of food and beverages, such as beer, where water purity is important to the final product.

  5. Power generation: UPW is used in the production of steam for power generation in order to prevent corrosion and damage to equipment.

  6. Cosmetics production: UPW is used in the production of cosmetics and personal care products as a solvent and for cleaning equipment.
